Thomas Gonzalez Trio

BIO

The trio draws its essence from the blending of ancestral rhythms and pop melodies.

Inspired by the people he meets in his travels (Zora, O’, Conversations, Jimi Hope), the jazz drummer Thomas Gonzalez sees his compositions as a travel diary, bearing witness to the slices of life he has gleaned over the years.

A unique voice then emerges, that of the musicians fading away before the music, which gave birth in 2015 to a first EP, Moïra .

In 2018, Jacinto Carbajal joined the trio as a double bassist but also a trumpet player. This change of line-up marks the genesis of the second album and gives birth to Elements .

While continuing the previous album, the trio affirms a search for new sounds through the contrasting encounter between African and Latin rhythms and deliberately binary sounds.

In 2023, after ten years of existence, Thomas Gonzalez wants to bring a second wind to his artistic project by collaborating with new musicians. This is how Luis Galceran (piano) and Guillaume Mongens (double bass) joined the group during its summer tour.

More than ever, Thomas Gonzalez realizes the importance of enriching his musical universe with new colors. It is with the transverse flute of Stéphane Bontemps that the trio, now a quartet, explores new musical trajectories and constantly reinvents itself.

The year 2024 is an opportunity for the quartet to consider its repertoire as a playground conducive to the pleasure of regularly inviting other musicians (trumpet, saxophone, percussion, vocals...) to share their love of improvisation and the stage.
